Mazarbul

Knowledge has ever been one of the richest resources available to a people, and the Mazarbul clan, eldest remaining in dwarfdom, has invariably held a controlling interest in it. All scholarly occupations are their ken, although they are not without other stakes to support their families. Time has made their thanes wise.

A byword are their illuminated texts, precious works of art regardless of the words preserved within. Although they rarely win a royal commission to outfit the Baruk Zirak, their smiths are still to be reckoned with. More famous, however, are their musical instruments, more important claim some than weapons, to a soulful people to whom singing is second nature.

Clan Device

The field (background) of emblems sporting the device of the Mazarbul is a deep purple, unadorned save for devices of the clan thane's family, which will include silver star-points sprinkled over the purple. Upon this, in white, will be emblazoned a quill pen with the hilt and guard of a sword instead of a writing-nib, hilts pointing either down or to the left, as appropriate for the shape of the object bearing the device. Unenamelled metallic mediums may forgo the purple field. Flags bearing this device will be long and narrow sock shapes.
