Beornings - Culture
For the purposes of Elendor MUSH, the Beornings and Woodmen have been combined into one culture known as the Beornings. The Woodmen and The Beornings are separate peoples, however, though they are allies and friends. Both share many common traits: they are non-military-oriented societies and have no organized forces such as Gondor or Rohan. However, this does not mean they do not know how to fight; every member of both places is part of the army which keeps their homes and lands safe. They are fierce when angered and generally cold to outsiders. If you can prove your trustworthiness to them you will also find a host of decent folk trying to survive in the Third Age.
The Beornings are governed and guided by the skinchangers lead by Grimbeorn. On ElendorMUSH, these shapeshifters are of the species Beijabar. They can change their form to that of a bear at various times, depending on strength and ability. These Beijabar are, however, rare in Middle Earth and rare in the culture. These Beijabar, kin of the chieftain Beorn (and thus marked with -beorn as a suffix to their names), keep the lands of the Anduin valley safe with the help of their human counterparts who have through the years inherrited their immense hatred of the goblins who live in nearby Goblin Town. The Beornings' influence ranges west to the Misty Mountains, to the eastern edge of Mirkwood, south to about Gladden Fields and north to Ered Mithrin (Grey Mountains).
The Woodmen once lived in Western Mirkwood, until the Mordain destroyed their village. Now both they and the Beornings live in the Anduin Village, near the Carrock.
