New page

The majority of the Dwarves living in the Iron Hills are generally either Smiths or Miners. While the majority of players are advised to choose from those listed in +EHELP PROFESSIONS, there are several positions open solely for experienced players living in Barazahar. They are detailed below:

== Baraz Burk ==

The Baraz Burk are the royal guards of Barazahar, their job being to protect the Stewards of Emyn Engrin and the hold itself from harm. They rarely leave the hold, and when they do, it is usually only to act as a bodyguard to those of Durin's House. They are all tested warriors, seasoned veterans with more than a few campaigns under their belt. Despite the fact that many of them are a bit grey in the beard, they are some of the toughest Dwarves in the hold, able to hold their own against any adversary.

The ranks of the Baraz Burk are as follows:
# Guard
# Sergeant
# Guard Captain
# Guard Master

== Ravenfeather Scouts ==

The Ravenfeathers of Barazahar are rare among the Dwarves in that their elite members excel in a skill not immediately associated with Dwarves: stealth. Also, they prefer to go lightly armed and armoured when out on patrol or engaging the enemy, a stark contrast to the famed heavy infantry of the warders and the formidable citizen soldier units of the hold. Their chosen weapons are usually the bow, single-axe and sword, and leather is their chosen armor. Despite these oddities, they have proved an invaluable resource to the Baraz Gathol and the Stewards of the Iron Hills, and their reputation is such that their services have even been occasionally requested by King Dain.

The Ravenfeathers have a loose command hierarchy, largely unwritten (though mostly based on experience and age), and all bear the same title: Ravenfeather Scout of Emyn Engrin, save for one. This is the Commander of the Ravenfeathers, and he reports to the Lord High Warder and Thorin Stonehelm alone. This makes the Ravenfeathers a quick and easily deployed force, unburdened by the usual command hierarchies that burden most militaries. They are often the first onto a disputed territory, and the last to leave.

Recently, the Ravenfeather Scouts' ranks have been depleted by several disastrous scouting expeditions in the Mirkwood, as well as the retirement of many of its veteran members, leaving the regiment smaller than it has been and open to new recruits.
